⚡ How to Get Back on Track

Amazingly, it’s the end of March. We’re three months into the year.

Tempus Fugit – time flies.

I know many fellow parents can attest: the days are long and the years are short.

You're constantly strapped for time, rushing from this thing to that thing.

You’re trying to maximize every precious minute on your calendar to get one more thing done.

At the same time:

  • How's your screen time these days?
  • When you have a free hour are you taking real breaks or just frittering it away?
  • How does your schedule reflect your priorities? Your goals? Are you actually spending time on things that matter?

This is where a lot of my thinking has been lately – because I’ve noticed myself slipping in my habits, in prioritizing my goals, in honoring the blocks I’ve put on my calendar to get things done.

It’s normal, I suppose. We start the year with ambition and intention. Then, life happens.

We get busy. New things pop up. We get pulled into something we didn’t plan or expect.

So, maybe what we need now is a kind of spring cleaning – a chance to tidy up the mental clutter that’s built up over the last few months.

How do you go about that? Well, it might look different for all of us.

So, by way of example, here are a few things I’m going to need to do for myself. Maybe they’ll inspire your own action plan.

  • Clean the house, so I can do my best thinking without this looming distraction.
  • Redefine the scope of a project that’s gotten a little unruly, so I can manage my time better.
  • Review my vision, goals, and systems from January, so I remember what I was doing and why (I told you this would come in handy 🙂).
  • Reset boundaries around reading / listening to the news, so I can be informed without it dominating my every waking thought.
  • Plan a few activities to energize my creativity, like a cooking class or a walk at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix.

What might you need to adjust or reset right now?

What would it look like to get back on track?

But, I need your help to test these ideas...

➡️ Help Needed: Apply Today to be a Beta Tester

As a Beta Tester, you get free personal development:

  • 💡 Improved awareness of how you respond to ambiguity
  • 🛠️ The tools and language to navigate ambiguity more effectively
  • 💬 1x coaching session with me to debrief the assessment results

Take a moment to pause & reflect.

  • Are you where you hoped you’d be at this point in the year?
  • What habits, routines, or priorities have drifted? What might be causing that?

Actions, experiments, & things to try next.

Set aside 20 minutes this week to brainstorm: What adjustments might put you back on track? What activities might help shift your energy? Don’t aim for a perfect reset. Aim for forward movement.

📫 If this sparked an idea, or if you’re feeling stuck, I’d love to hear from you. You can reply directly to this email to share what you’re working on, ask a question, or suggest topics you’d like me to cover in future newsletters. I read every response.

Until next time,

Heads up! I’ll be taking a break from the weekly newsletter this summer, giving myself time to recharge and focus on a few projects I’m excited to share with you this fall. We spend so much of the year in motion: planning, building, solving, logistics, taking action. Intentional pauses create space to think big and explore something new (or rethink something old). It’s a chance to wipe the windshield clean and see things with a fresh perspective. And I’m really looking forward to it. 🤓 How...

I’ve written about a wide range of topics over the years and I want to know what you’ve found most valuable. Three quick questions: #1: When you think about the 321 LIftoff newsletters that stuck with you, what was the underlying theme? Building and growing a business (strategy, storytelling, money management, etc.) A mindset of adaptability, resilience, patience, etc. Personal development, like how to set and pursue goals Leadership – of your life, at work, in business, etc. #2: What helps...

I was walking home after dropping off my kids at school. I was moving quickly to try and get a few extra things done before my meetings started for the day. Mentally, I was already in work mode, stepping with authority in a kind of march toward my home office. Suddenly, I woke up from my trance. A little green hummingbird flew right in my path, just a few feet from my face. I could see it's tiny pink and purple feathers around it's neck It hovered there for what felt like a long time, just...
